/remake/remodel
You are invited to remix/remake/remodel either or both the pieces 'silent movie' or 'copy of ghost dance' by Michael Szpakowski and Jo Thomson of '...some dancers and musicians...'
This must include elements of one of the pieces and/or material from the video from which the pieces were originally constructed and and may include elements of all three and any other material whatsoever, the only proviso being that there is a perceptible ( however marginal) connection to the source material.
How to download the files.
When you have made your piece put it on a web page, including on your page a link to http://www.somedancersandmusicians.com/index.html , then e mail us at re@somedancersandmusicians.com with your name, the name of your piece and it's URL and a thumbnail ( 100 pixels high x something reasonable). The closing date for entries is November 15th 2002
Please also indicate whether you are happy to have your e mail address displayed with your entry and whether you consider your piece 'Six Rules' compliant (see below).
We will index and link to all functioning entries which meet the above criteria from http://www.somedancersandmusicians.com/re/entries.html
However, if you have not done all of the things requested above we will not do this.
A panel of judges will select the best ten entries. These will, should the makers so wish, be permanently* archived on the '...some dancers...' site.
Additionally two prizes of £200 will be awarded. One prize will go to the best piece which adheres to Eryk Salvaggio's 'Six Rules Towards a New Internet Art' , the other to the best piece employing any means whatsoever.
The final ten pieces and the two prizewinners will be announced here mid December.
For participants living or studying in the county of Essex, UK, a free workshop (choice of Friday 18th October & Saturday 19th Oct) led by Michael Szpakowski is available.
This will include a lecture demo by Mike on the making of the original pieces and a subsequent opportunity to use the digital facilities at Epping Forest Arts in Epping, Essex.
Places are limited to 4 people at each session so apply for a place now
The project was funded by Essex County Council Cultural Services and Epping Forest Arts. Thanks.
The prizes were funded by '..some dancers and musicians...'
